Wastewater Pretreatment system - City of Los Angeles, CA
EEC designed and installed a 120-gallon per minute wastewater pretreatment system to allow the plant to meet their discharge compliance limits with the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Sanitation. The treatment system removes 95-99% of the contaminants such as oil, volatile organics, and suspended solids. The design includes the following: a 20,000 gallon equalization tank, an 8,000 gallon oil/water separator, a 4,000 gallon steam heating tank, waste oil storage and treatment tanks, wastewater segregation trenching, pH adjustment with sulfuric acid and sodium hydroxide, solids filtration, heat exchanger's, ultrasonic level sensors, and flow metering. The installation included the following: tank rigging and placement; installation of pumps, mixers, pH controllers, steam controller, catwalks, and electrical; and PVC, CPVC, galvanized, grooved, welded steel, and copper piping. EEC trained the operators of the system and supplied technical support to ensure compliance.
