Landfill Gas Collection System Installation

EEC installed an interim landfill gas control system and condensate return system for a consulting company on behalf of a Southern California city (City). The purpose of the system was to monitor and control the release of gases and condensates from the City Landfill.

The project included the excavation of a sloping trench 1,000 feet in length ranging between 4 and 15 feet deep. Within the excavation, EEC installed an 8-inch diameter high density polyethylene (HDPE) vapor vacuum line connected to the existing eight vapor wells and condensate treatment system. EEC also installed 2-inch diameter HDPE high pressure air and 3-inch diameter HDPE condensate return lines from the condensate pumps to the condensate treatment system. Prior to backfilling the excavation, all of the HDPE lines were heat fused and pressure tested. After installing the piping, EEC installed concrete structural foundations for the treatment system enclosure. As part of the project, EEC obtained all of the necessary permits including those from the City Fire and Building Departments.

Project Highlights:

  • Installed landfill gas control system.
  • Installed condensate return system.
  • Performed all project related excavating, trenching, piping, electrical, and foundation work.
  • Obtained all necessary construction permits from the City fire and building departments.
  • Managed all stages of the construction project.
