Phase II

Project Highlights:
- Leaking Above and Underground Storage Tanks
- Soil and Groundwater Impacted Petroleum Hydrocarbons
- Free Product Measured in multiple Wells
- Free Product Monitoring and Recovery
- Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring and Reporting
- Soil and Groundwater Site Investigations
- Ocean Water Sampling
A Bulk Fuel Terminal operated at the Site from the 1940's until December 2001, when the aboveground storage tanks (ASTs) were removed. Pipelines extended from the AST area 900 feet southeast to a pier near a bedrock abutment. Fuels were brought by ship, unloaded at the pier, and transported via three 4-inch-diameter pipelines to the AST compound. Petroleum products delivered and handled at the Site included gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel, heating fuel, lubricant oil, grease, Blazo Fuel, Flamo, Commercial Butane 4704, and "special, government, and all other products." It is believed that these were petroleum products (such as kerosene and white gas).
EEC has conducted groundwater monitoring, free product recovery, and developed a remedial action plan (RAP) for the site. EEC has also conducted ocean water sampling which included the collection of pore water, shallow water, and deep water samples to assess concentration and extent of petroleum hydrocarbons released into the ocean as a result of a release. |
